Obituary for Arlie "Jay" Vanover, Jr
Arlie "Jay" Vanover Jr. is now walking with his son, Little Jay, on streets of gold. Jay gained his heavenly crown on April 13, 2016, at the age of 73. He was born on November 9, 1942, to the late Alice and Arlie Vanover. Jay had a big heart and loved everyone, but none more than his wife, Peggy and their only son, Little Jay. His faith was the only thing bigger than his heart. Jay served Jesus for more than 28 years and looked forward to the day he would see his son again. He brought a smile to everyone at Millstone Missionary Baptist Church and could often be heard agreeing with his preacher with a quiet, "yep." Jay's second from the back seat always attracted a crowd as folks wanted to listen to him banter with his back seat brothers in Christ. Jay was famous for his good-natured teasing, easy-going ways, and contagious smile. Jay proudly served in the United States Army in 1965. He was honored to be called Pappaw by Walker and Tori Isaacs. His loves included two special nephews: Aidan and Sam Adams, as well as a special friend, Gavin Fultz. Jay is reunited with many loved ones who proceeded him in death including: one son, Arlie "Little Jay" Vanover; six brothers: Victor Holbrook, Earl Caldwell, Don Caldwell, Martin Caldwell, Paul Vanover and Lonnie Vanover; and one sister Bonnie Clark. Jay is survived by his wife Peggy; one sister, Goldie Hall, and host of family and friends.
