Obituary for Opal Faye Cook
Opal Faye Cook, daughter of the late Charlie Cornett and June Banks Cornett Anderson was born at Ice, Kentucky, December 16, 1935. She entered eternal life Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital being 82 years and 3 months of age at the time of her passing.
Opal was married to Riley Cook for 65 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all that knew her. Opal was a member of the Eastern Star Hester Chapter No. 54 in Whitesburg, Kentucky where she had served as chaplin. She was a devoted Christian and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Riley Cook of Whitesburg, Kentucky. Five sons; Mark (Debbie) Cook, Donald Keith (Sherry) Cook, Michael (Ginger) Cook, Shawn (Amy) Cook and Robert Cook all of Whitesburg, Kentucky. One daughter, Pamela (Ott) Mullins of London, Kentucky. Two sisters; Betty Steen of Jeffersonville, Ohio and Towana Cornett of Florida.
Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Opal was preceded in death by two sons; Danny Cook and Timothy Cook. One daughter, Deborah Rylene Cook. A grandson, T.J. Cook. One brother, Ray Cornett. Three sisters; Barbara Cornett, Christine Mullins Lenz and Carol Cook.
