Obituary for Carroll H. Shackleford
Carroll H. Shackleford, son of the late Price Bishop Shackelford and Susa Nadine Day was born in Martin, Kentucky, December 21, 1928. He entered eternal life Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital in Whitesburg, Kentucky being 89 years and 22 days of age at the time of his passing.
Carroll married Sara Ruth Hampton, February 4, 1953. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a great friend to all that knew him. Carroll was a United States Air Force veteran having served in the Korean and Vietnam War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitesburg, Kentucky.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sara Ruth Shackleford of Cowan, Kentucky. Two sons, Ronald Carroll Shackleford of Cowan, Kentucky and Donald E. (Maryrose) Shackleford of Louisville, Kentucky. Three daughters, Barbara Sue Hughes of Whitesburg, Kentucky. Debra Gibson of Ermine, Kentucky and Kathryn A. (James) Thissen of Vine Grove, Kentucky.
Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Carroll was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan K. Shackleford and a grandson, Oliver F. Shortt.
