Obituary for Virgil Daniel Allen II

Virgil Daniel Allen II (Danny / Danny Boy / Little A), 58, of Newport, Tennessee, formerly of Cromona and McRoberts, Kentucky, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, February 21st, 2025, at North Knoxville Medical Center, Powell, Tennessee. Danny was born in Whitesburg, Kentucky, to Virgil and Gennieve Allen of Cromona, Kentucky, on April 8th, 1966.

Danny is survived by his wife, Kimberly Sapp–Allen of Newport, Tennessee and McRoberts, Kentucky; daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Jesse Osborne of Johnson City, Tennessee; daughter, Emily Alicia Marie Allen, Esq. of Kingsport, Tennessee; daughter McKinley Paige Potter of Louisville, Kentucky; mother, Gennieve Allen of Cromona, Kentucky; sister, Rebecca, brother-in-law, Johnny, and nephew, Johnathan Mullins, of Cromona, Kentucky; and sister, Renee Allen, of Cromona, Kentucky. Also surviving are a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Preceding Danny in death are his father, Virgil D. Allen I; sister, Erica Allen Hall; and niece, Toni Hall.

Danny was a father to all in need and mentor to many. His kind and generous spirit is a testimony of his character and integrity. Danny’s giving heart was felt and appreciated by his community, as well as countless individuals. He owned and operated Little A. Trucking, Inc. for thirty years, hauling petroleum products along the east and gulf coasts, the mid-Atlantic, and the Midwest. His adventurous wanderlust was an inherent part of him, never meeting a stranger and making friends everywhere he went.

Danny was a proud Mason, Shriner, and Templar, believing fully in service and assistance in any way possible to those in need—opening his heart, wallet, and home.

Danny was widely known for his pride and love for his daughters, wife, and family. He was a truly remarkable husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all.

Danny’s services will take place at Everidge Funeral Home, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025. Family will gather at 5:00 P.M. followed by a public visitation with services from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. A brief funeral service will take place on Wednesday, February 26th, at 11:00 A.M. followed by Masonic Rites at Allen Cemetery in Salyersville, Kentucky, at 3:00 P.M. For those traveling, Allen Cemetery is located at 149 Custer Allen Road, Salyersville, Kentucky 41465.
