Obituary for Samuel "S.T." Wright Jr.
Samuel "S.T." Tilden Wright, Jr, son of the late Samuel J. Tilden Wright, Sr and Lydia Margaret Craft Wright was born in Millstone, Kentucky, April 18, 1924. He entered eternal life Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital being 92 years, 10 months and 20 days of age at the time of his passing.
S.T. was married to the late Gladys Hall Wright. She entered eternal life April 6, 1996. He later married Violet "Chick" Stumbo Hall Wright. She passed away June 21, 2011.
S.T. served his community as a probation and parole officer and supervisor for 41 years, while raising a loving family at Thornton, Ky. As supervisor his counties consisted of Floyd, Harlan, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, Perry, Pike and Bell. He was selected as supervisor of the year three times and received numerous awards and distinctions. After his retirement, probation and parole built an Officer training center in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Due to his distinguished service leadership and dedication the training center was named after S.T. Wright.
He is survived by a son, Samuel T. (Jennifer) Wright III of Millstone, Kentucky. One daughter, Tammie Wright (Randall) Bentley of Casey County, Kentucky. Three grandsons, Samuel J. Tilden Wright, IV of Mayking, Kentucky, John Alexander Wright of Mayking, Kentucky and Baron Taft Bentley of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Also surviving is his loving companion of his later years, Elsie Adams and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
S.T. was preceded in death by six brothers, Hillard, William "Bill" , Harvey, Nick, Charlie, Comey. Two sisters, Hennie and Seldom.
