Obituary for Sam D. Potter
Sam D. Potter, son of the late John Potter and Rosie Tolliver Potter was born May 23, 1947 in Letcher County, Kentucky. He passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky being sixty six years, ten months, and twenty eight days of age at the time of his passing. Sam married Barbara Dishman September 22, 1983 in Clintwood, Virginia. He enjoyed watching UK basketball, fishing, ginseng hunting and spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Potter of Hemphill, Kentucky. Three sons, Derrick Potter and wife Michelle of Hazard, Kentucky, Glendal Johnson and wife Shelia of Jasper, Alabama, Samuel Potter and wife Tina of Detroit, Michigan. Three daughters, Samantha Amburgey and husband Jonathan, Tina Switzer and husband Faubus of Bardstown, Kentucky and Virtie Kirby and husband Danny of Richmond, Kentucky. Three sisters, Betty Joe Bentley of Hemphill, Kentucky, Reba Green of payne Gap, Kentucky and Phyllis Bentley of Hemphill, Kentucky. One brother, Melvin Potter of McRoberts, Kentucky. Also surviving a special friend Felicia Smith and fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Sam was preceded in death by two daughters; Jeanette Potter and Sandra Potter. One brother, George Henry Potter.
