Obituary for Ruby Jean Maggard
Ruby Jean Maggard, daughter of the late Dock and Melissa Adams Shepherd was born in Letcher County, Kentucky October 23, 1935. She entered eternal life, Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky being 76 years, 7 months, and 19 days of age at the time of his passing. Ruby was married to the late James Tate Maggard. He passed away October 17, 1989. They participated in the Foster Parent program for twenty eight years opening their home and their hearts to more than two hundred and fifty children. She was a member of the Pentecostal church for fifty three years. She is survived by three sons; Dallas Maggard and James Allen ( Darlene) Maggard of Cowan, Kentucky. Larry Gale Maggard (Hester) of Billmoore Branch, Kentucky. One sister, Velma Slone of Cowan, Kentucky. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, ten great - grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Ruby was preceded in death by a son,Darrell Maggard and a sister, Bulah Boggs. Three brothers, Astor, Castel, and Arthur.
