Obituary for Rev. Wendell M. Bates
Rev. Wendell M. Bates, son of the late Mack McCoy Bates and Inis Holbrook was born in Letcher County, Kentucky, September 7, 1947. He entered eternal life Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Whitesburg, Kentucky being 70 years, 11 months and 1 day of age at the time of his passing.
Wendell married Billie Joyce Craft, September 7, 1969 in Clintwood, Virginia. She entered eternal life on July 30, 2012. He was an US Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam war. He was a loving father, grandfather and a great friend to all that knew him. He enjoyed going to church and preaching the word. He was a man of faith. He was the pastor and founder of the Bill Moore Branch Holiness Church since 1994.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Jennifer (Jeremy) Bryant of McRoberts, Kentucky, Wendy (Bobby) Stines of Whitesburg, Kentucky and Robin (Zach) Smith of Isom, Kentucky. Three sons, Wendell Bates, Jr of Whitesburg, Kentucky, Jason (Danielle) Bates of Thornton, Kentucky and Jesse (Kandi) Bates of Hazard, Kentucky. One brother, Harold Dean Bates of London, Kentucky. One sister, Vivian McKiddy of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild on the way and and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
