Peggy Jean Mason, daughter of the late Astor and Mildred Eva Quillen, was born April 13, 1950 in McRoberts, Kentucky. She passed away at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky on April 15, 2023, at at the age of 73.
Peggy was a resident of Whitesburg, Kentucky. She was a proud mother, loving grandmother, beloved baby sister and a true public servant. Neon First Church of God has been her family's church since she was 4 years old, where she dedicated her life to God in 1982.
Peggy worked hard to help others, serving the region for more than 40 years. She worked in the Letcher County Clerks office, Cabinet for Human Rescources Employment and Unemployment divisions, Caney Creek Rehabilitation Complex, and Kentucky River Community Care, where she just recently retired Oct 31, 2022.
When she was not working, she loved spending her time with family and working around her home. Peggy was ultimately at peace working in her flowers, relaxing on her porches surrounded by her Eastern Kentucky mountains, loving the peacefulness of home.
She is survived by her two loving daughters: Lori Ann (James) Kelly - Hazard, Kentucky, Kimberly Carol (Kevin) Fletcher - Safety Harbor, FL; Grandchildren: Brett James Kelly, Sara Kate Fletcher and Sean McPherson Fletcher; Sisters: Jane Anne Seta - Largo, FL, Eva Carol Faas - Oldsmar, FL, and Jerilynn (Merrell) Graham of Surgoinsville, TN; Nieces and Nephews, Kathi (Patrick) McClanahan, Tony (Jennifer) Little, Eva Christine (Lester Shelburn) Faas, Debra (Allen) Irvin, Jolen (Matt) McCully, Kevin (Laura) Lamb, Tabatha Graham and Tim Little; and many great nieces and nephews and a host of of other relatives and friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Mason, former husband Bobby Short, Parents: Astor and Mildred Eva Quillen, Brother: Joe Sherman Quillen, Sister: Rotoni Lee Smith, Nephew: Joseph Graham.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request direct donation to the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard who are so caring, supportive and compassionate.
