Obituary for Omer Champion
Omer Gene Champion, son of the late Ardell and Christine Patrick Champion was born in Seco, Kentucky, September 3, 1938. He entered eternal life Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital being 79 years, 10 months and 17 days of age at the time of his passing.
Omer married Verdia Jo Crisp on January 11, 1964. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a great friend to all that knew him. Omer was an avid Nascar fan and a member of the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church for over forty years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Verdia Jo Champion of Sergent, Kentucky. Two daughters, Melody Jo (Chris) Webb of Zebulan, North Carolina and Melissa "Missy" Jane (Rondall) Baker of Thornton, Kentucky. One son, Omer Jene "Champ" (Misty) Champion of Fernandina Beach, Florida. One brother, Ricky (Debbie) Champion of Bill Moore Branch, Kentucky.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Holly (Jordan) Webb, Sydney Jo Webb, Dylan Webb, Cody Baker and Omer Gene "Tripp" Champion III and a host of other relatives, friends and a special group of Nascar friends.
Omer was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Stafford.
