Obituary for Lester Little
Lester Little, son of the late Sherwood and Madonna Anderson Little, was born April 26, 1927 in Pike County, Kentucky. He entered eternal life February 3, 2021 at his residence in McRoberts, Kentucky being 93 years, 9 months and 8 days of age at the time of his passing. He lived the majority of his life in McRoberts. He was a member of the McRoberts Missionary Baptist church for 39 years.
He married Genevieve Fleming on June 19, 1948 in Pike County, Kentucky. Lester was a diversified, hard worker, holding many jobs including sales person at Reynolds Furniture, forest warden in Pike County, coalminer and carpenter. He was a skillful carpenter and assisted in the construction of multiple bridges and many buildings in the community. Among the buildings are the McRoberts, Neon, and Burdine Elementary Schools, the Jenkins Middle High School. The Neon A&P grocery store, several churches and many homes in the community (five belonging to his children). Once retired, he continued his love for woodworking in his own wood shop, crafting masterpieces for his family and friends.
His hobbies included turkey hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He harvested beautiful fruits and vegetables, some being from his many apple trees and elaborate grapevines.
He is survived by four sons; Keith (Bonnie) Little, Edward (Brenda) Little, Stuart (Janet) Little and Les Little of McRoberts, Kentucky. Three daughters; Kathy (Cliff) Hagy of Clendenin, West Virginia, Carolene (Jackie) Childers and Colleen (Carl) Franklin of McRoberts, Kentucky. Seven sisters; Anna Sparks, Billie Jean Fleming, Deborah White, Deeda Tilly, Mildred Mullins of McRoberts, Kentucky, Rose Mary Collins of Lenoir, North Carolina and Irene Seahorne of Florida. Two brothers; Freddie Little of Lexington, Kentucky and Jack Little of South Carolina.
Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Genevieve Little. Also preceding him were six sisters; Annalene Johnson, Myrtle Bartley, Linda Bullion, Barbra Cantrell, Shelby Mullins and Sherrie Brown. Two brothers; David Little and Ralph Little.
Lester was deeply loved by his children, grandchildren, church family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy in his seven children. He will be greatly missed for a while, but, for those that share his faith, we will celebrate with him again in the Kingdom of Heaven.
