Obituary for Komos "Coon" Ison

Komos ''Coon" Ison, son of Kelly and Callie Stallard Ison, was born on September 5, 1925 on Kingdom Come Creek in Whitesburg. He entered eternal life on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at his home, being 92 years, nine months and 19 days of age at the time of his passing.

Komos was married to the love of his life Atha Riter Ison, on October 20, 1945. She passed away on March 27, 2002. He was a coal miner for 33 years and was a long time member of the United Mine Workers Association.

Komos is survived by one son, Lonnie Dale Ison (Colene); two daughters, Linda Gail Cornett, and Donna Denise Holbrook (David) all of Kingdom Come Creek. Five grandchildren; Mickey Ison (Melissa) of Linefork, Shane Ison (Liz) of Kingdom Come, Scott Cornett (Angela) of Lake City, TN, Christie Adams (Matt) of Kingdom Come, and Justin Holbrook. Twelve great grandchildren; Mickey, Mariah, Cody, Destany, Jared, Tori, Emily, Kenzie, Alex, Kellie, Maleah, and Sonny. One sister, Madge Sergent of Jackson and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lela Mae Ison; four brothers and five sisters.
