Obituary for Johnny Emory Greene
Johnny Emory Greene, son of the late Martin and Athleen Hall Greene was born in Wise, Virginia, December 3, 1946. He entered eternal life Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Morristown - Hamblen Health Care System in Morristown, Tennessee being 74 years, 1 month and 9 days of age at the time of his passing.
Johnny married Judy Howard on January 8, 1992 at Cramcreek, Kentucky. Johnny worked for several coal companies and in the fall of 1990, he got a job at the Department of Mines & Minerals. Johnny held several different positions with the Department and was the Executive Director at the time of his retirement. Johnny always took his job very serious and the coal miner was his main focus. He was also very active in mine rescue. He was a devout Christian. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a great friend to all that knew him. He enjoyed been on the lake, gardening, playing bass guitar in church and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Greene of Bean Station, Tennessee. Three sons, Kevin (Ashley) Greene of Louisville, Kentucky, Kelly (Megan) Greene of Frankfort, Kentucky and Jerome (Crystal) Hatton of Whitesburg, Kentucky. Two daughters, Mindy Bowling of Gainsville, Georgia and Tabatha Hatton of Ashland, Ohio. Six sisters, Anita Whitaker of Bean Station, Tennessee, Annette Yonts of Jenkins, Kentucky, Priscilla Howard of Rutledge, Tennessee, Patricia Blackson of Rutledge, Tennessee, Tina McElroy of Payne Gap, Kentucky and Martina Yonts of Kona, Kentucky. One brother, Joe Greene of Jenkins, Kentucky.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Corey, Jacob, Andrew, Harrison, Parker, Knox, Jacob, Makala, Elijah, Preston, Cooper and Morgan and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
