Obituary for John Edward Johnson
John Edward Johnson, son of the late Rush and Katherine Mattingly Johnson was born in Pikeville, Kentucky August 20, 1932. He entered eternal life Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital in Whitesburg, Kentucky being eighty two years, seven months and twenty one days of age at the time of his passing. John was a US Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He was married to Betty Jo Varner Johnson for several years. He enjoyed many things but, spending time with his family and friends is what he enjoyed most. He is survived by his loving daughters, Katherine Sexton of Millstone, Kentucky and Phyllis Looney of Whitesburg, Kentucky. One son, Bobby Joe Johnson of Haymond, Kentucky. Two sisters, Mary Alice Wallace of Dorton, Kentucky and Nancy Carol Akers of Pikeville, Kentucky. Also surviving are a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. John was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Daniel Johnson. One sister, Barbara Sue Robinson.
