Obituary for Joan Fleming Johnson
Joan Fleming "Memaw" Johnson, daughter of the late Rollie Edward Fleming and Roxie Miller Fleming and Step-mom, Alpha Stewart Fleming was born in Etty, Kentucky, May 5, 1939. She entered eternal life Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky being 73 years 10 months and 17 days of age at the time of her passing. Joan was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. She enjoyed going to church and was a member of Hemphill Baptist Church at Hemphill, Kentucky. Joan enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. She is survived by three sons; Randy Johnson of Payne Gap, Kentucky, Dennis Ray (Lisa) Johnson and Timothy (Sonda) Johnson both of Manassas, Virginia . Four daughters; Patricia Ann Combs of Lost Creek, Kentucky, Dianne (Tony) Day of Rutledge, Tennessee, Renda Kaye (Dan) Taylor of Raleigh, North Carolina and Contrena (Jody) Potter of Burdine, Kentucky. Four brothers Wilson (Alice) Fleming of Long Fork, Kentucky, Douglas Fleming of Hyden, Kentucky, Bruce Fleming of Kelso, Washington and Carl (Anita) Fleming of Prince George, Virginia. Two sisters; Genevieve (Lester) Little of McRoberts, Kentucky and Geneva Dennison of Alma, West Virginia. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
