Obituary for Jack Dean Sumpter
Jack Dean Sumpter, son of the late Henry David and Nannie Larue Elkins Sumpter was born in Whitesburg, Kentucky. He entered eternal life Friday, July 25, 2014 at his residence in Jacksonville, North Carolina being 71 years, and 1 month of age at the time of his passing. Jack was known to his family as "Uncle Shack and Shackie Dean". He was a veteran serving in the United States Army and a member of the V.F.W. Post 9133 in Jacksonville, N.C. and American Veterans Post 333 in Black Mountain,N.C.. Jack was a loving Brother, Uncle and Friend to all that knew him. He is survived by a sister, Joyce Ann Fields of Jacksonville, N.C.. One brother, Dell Vertrice Sumpter of Ocean Beach, N.C.. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Sumpter.
