Jean Adkins was the daughter of a coal miner, raised in coal camps including Marlowe and all the experiences that went with it. She attended Stuart Robinson School and Whitesburg High School. She became a young mother one month shy of her nineteenth birthday. She loved her sons with everything in her and her sons loved her with everything in them. She was beautiful all of her life, she was always young in our eyes, and it was as if she'd never leave. She hasn't. She'll always be with us, her sons, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren. No stronger presence in our lives than Jean Adkins.
Hers is a life to be celebrated. She lived her life to the fullest and was a bright, shining light and brought joy to all who met her and knew her. Her kindness, her glow, her beauty, her soul enriched all of us.
A special expression of gratitude to Kaitlin Adkins, Lisa Howard and Klaire Adkins for their compassionate care for Jean Adkins during her final illness.
