Obituary for Herbert Hoover Standifer
Herbert Hoover Standifer, son of the late David Hugh and Flora Blair Standifer was born in Cowan, Kentucky, July 11, 1930. He entered eternal life Friday, June 29, 2018 at Rutledge, Tennessee being 87 years of age at the time of his passing.
Herbert married Pauline Campbell in Crab Orchard, Kentucky, August 5, 1955.He was a US Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed hunting, camping, watching University of Kentucky Basketball, eating a warm meal and spending time with family and friends. He always enjoyed lending a helping hand to a friend or neighbor and taught his kids and grandchildren the same. He worked at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital in the Maintenance Department and also for CSX Railroad as a diesel mechanic.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Debbie (Bob) Howard of Whitesburg, Kentucky. Two sons, James Riley (Delayne) Standifer of Whitesburg, Kentucky and Bruce (Susan) Standifer of Knoxville, Tennessee. Six grandchildren, Josh (Angela) Howard and Caleb (Erica) Howard and Gabrielle (Jonathan) Adams, Rebecca Standifer all of Whitesburg, Kentucky, Cynthia Standifer of Knoxville, Tennessee and Drew (Stephanie) Standifer of Huntington, West Virginia.
Also surviving are eight great-grand children, Haleigh, Shelby, Brooklyn, Lucy, Damon, Brody, Shade and Arianna and a host of other relatives and friend to mourn his passing.
Herb is preceded in death by a great-grandson, Elijah Howard. Four Brothers, Theodre Standifer, Cecil Standifer, Charlie Standifer and Carl Standifer. Five sisters, Irene Humphrey, Lorene Adams, Nancy Brown, Ethel Lewis and Audrey Standifer.
