Obituary for Grace O'Neil Short
Grace O’Neil (Coots) Short was a caring, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend. She departed the world at her home in Cram Creek surrounded by her family on Monday, October 25, 2021 at the age of 96 years old.
Grace was born to James Riley and Maude Coots on April 4, 1925. She married Edward Short on January 31, 1945. Together they had seven children—Patsy, Madonna, Gary, Jerry, Kaye, Kim, and Telena.
Grace loved her family and was a wonderful homemaker and excellent cook. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Cram Creek Pentecostal Church. She was a lifelong friend to many and a pillar of her community. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, courage, kindness, and faith.
Grace is survived by her children: Patsy Richardson, Jerry (Carolyn) Short, Kaye Short, Kim (Dwayne) Taylor, and Telena (Steve) Klepac and one daughter-in-law, Sharon Short. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Jimmy Stephens, Charlie Stephens, Sandy Morris, Jennifer Wampler, Tammy Short, Kelly Short, Mandi Parker, Misti Bailey, Cedric Short, Jordan Schlinger, Haley Schlinger, Nick Klepac, and Kevin Klepac and 6 great grandchildren: Josh Stephens, Hannah Wampler, Kati Parker, Chloe Wampler, Belle Parker, and Olivia Bailey.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward, one son, Gary Edward Short, one daughter, Madonna Pennington, three sisters, and seven brothers.
In memory of her, please pay forward the many traits that made her a wonderful woman: a kind word, a gentle spirit, a warm hug, a strong faith, and a good laugh. She would want us all to engage in a warm and pleasant way with the people we meet every day.
