Obituary
Gene Combs was called home to Heaven on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, surrounded by the love of his family. He was Born February 20, 1953, in Hazard, Kentucky, to the late Orbin Combs and Millie Stamper Combs, Gene lived 72 beautiful years, seven months and nine days filled with love, laughter, and simple joys.
Gene was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished brother, and loyal friendto all who knew him. He married the love the love of his life, Deborah Louise Couch Combs, and together they built a life full of precious memories and unwavering devotion. Gene found peace and happiness in life's simple blessings, like watching birds and squirrel's play, spending time in nature, taking scenic drives, and breathing in the salty air by the ocean he loved so much.
But more than anything, gene's greatest joy was found in the love of his family. His daughter, Taylyn was the light of his life, and his grandson, Kross, brought him endless pride and happiness. A very special angel, Mini Mae, also brought so much joy to him. Every moment spent with them was a treasure to his heart, and he cherished every laugh, hug, and shared a memory.
He is survived by his wife, Deb Combs of Isom, Kentucky; his daughter Taylyn (Robbie) Kincer of Whitesburg, Kentucky; one brother, Burnett (Mary) Combs of Isom, Kentucky; and two sisters, Arlene Morgerson of Lexington, Kentucky and Geraldine Niece of Isom, Kentucky. Also surviving are his beloved grandson, Gabriel Kross Kincer, and a grandchild of his heart, Mini Mae Day, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Thurman Combs, Clemon Combs, and Joe Combs.
Gene will be remembered for his heart, gentle soul, beautiful smile and unconditional love he shared so freely with everyone around him. Though he is deeply missed, the love he gave and the memories he left behind will remain forever.
