Franklin "Red" Austin was born on November 9th 1942 and entered eternal life on February 25th 2023, making him 80 years 3 months and 14 days at the time of his passing. Red is preceded in death by his son Franklin Howard Austin II, his parents Giles and Lizzie Austin, and his granddaughter Carley Alyssa Austin France. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Edna Carolyn Austin of Haymond, KY, Two sons, Wayne Austin (Missy) of Haymond, KY and Kevin Austin (Jackie) of Millstone, KY, One daughter Krista Akers (James) of Haymond, KY, Five grandsons, Franklin Cody Wayne Austin of Haymond, KY, Harley Chase Caudill of Pippa Passes, KY, Zach Bates of Millstone, KY, Kam Branham of Millstone, KY and C.J. Akers of Haymond, KY and one great-granddaughter, Jaydence Alexandrea France and a host of other family and friends.
Red was a loving and devoted husband and father. He is a Vietnam Veteran, and was a coal miner for 21 years, but his most loved job was on December 24th each year. Red loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family. Red's laughter, love and kind heart will be greatly missed by all who love him, knew him and ever sat on his lap at Christmas. Heaven has gained a good man.
