Obituary for Frank Combs
Frank Combs, 78, of Mt. Carmel, Kentucky passed away Saturday morning, January 31, 2015 at the UK Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Frank was born December 7, 1936 in Seco, Kentucky, the son of Cicero and Rebecca Ritchey Combs. He was a graduate of Whitesburg High School in Letcher County, Kentucky and Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Michigan. He served in the 101st Airborne of the U.S. Army at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Frank retired from General Motors after 31 years of service. After retirement, he and his wife, Marcella Cook Combs re-located to Kentucky so that he could pursue his love for Kentucky Basketball. Frank was a true UK "Cats" fan and could cite from memory the stats of every U.K. game, player and coach. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Matthew Combs of Columbus, Ohio and John Gregory (Diane) Combs of Lincoln Park, Michigan and a sister, Kathleen (Elwood) Hall of Bellaire Bluff, Florida. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Tyler, Noah, Hayley and Spencer Combs of Columbus, Ohio, Savannah Combs of Lincoln Park, Michigan and one great granddaughter, Carleigh Combs. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Sue Breeding and Ann Foren. Six brothers; Harlan "Bus", Edward "Red", Jack, Hoover and Jonathan "Duke" Combs and Harvey.
