Obituary for Ethel Banks
Ethel Banks, daughter of the late Emmitt and Hettie Hampton Halcomb was born on May 2, 1916 in Letcher County, Kentucky. She entered eternal life on Saturday, December 20, 2014 being 98 years, 7 months and 18 days of age at the time of her passing. Ethel was married to the late Boyd Banks Jr who preceded her in death on May 24, 1987. She was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking for her family, quilting, gardening and attending to her flowers. She is survived by two sons, Jerry Banks of Eolia, Kentucky and Jack Banks and wife Vivian of Cowan, Kentucky. Three daughters, Shelia Gosse of Kingsport, Kentucky, Julia Shoemaker of Schunburg, Illinois and Janice Smith of Columbus, Indiana. Two brothers, Solomon H. Halcomb of Cowan, Kentucky and Linville Halcomb of Columbus, Indiana. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Pam Chestnut, Jerome Banks, Wade Banks, Debbie, Larry Shoemaker, Bradley Shoemaker, Phillip Ison and Rusty Ison. Several Great-Great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by two daughters; Margaret Boggs Haag and Emma Adams Lamb. One brother; Alex Halcomb. Four sisters: Mary Day, Lovelle Halcomb, Ollie Collier and Mae Day.
