Elizabeth Ann (Craft) Sliwka passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, June 5th, 2025, in Garden City, South Carolina after a courageous journey with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Liz was 83 years of age at the time of her passing and resided with her husband of 58 years, John A Sliwka, in Murrells Inlet, SC. Elizabeth was born in Whitesburg, KY on Nov. 8, 1941, to the late Dave L. Craft and Lake (Collins) Craft. She is also preceded by her brothers Larry Neil Craft and David Logan Craft and sisters Linda Kay Craft and Anita Fay (Craft) Minton.
She is survived by her husband John, son John David Sliwka, daughter in law Suzanne Nicole (Yturri) Sliwka and grandsons John Logan Sliwka and Jake David Sliwka as well as a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.
After graduating from Jenkins High School, Elizabeth studied drama initially at Virginia Intermont University followed by the University of Kentucky and earned her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education at Eastern Kentucky University. She majored in English, Speech and Drama and was part of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Elizabeth met her husband John at the University of Kentucky and once married they resided briefly in NY and TX followed by CA for 25 years before moving to SC in 2005. Like her husband, Liz was a voracious reader, she loved traveling, any kind of card game, listening to most types of music as well as spending as much time as possible with her family, friends and most of all her two grandsons. After a private service she will be interred next to her maternal grandparents Elizabeth (Logan) Collins and James Leonard Collins in Knott County Kentucky.
