Obituary for Dr. James H. "Jim" McDannel
Dr. James "Jim" McDannel, son of the late Arvel and Ruby Turnage McDannel was born December 15, 1942 in Creal Springs, Illinois. He entered eternal life Monday, June 19, 2017 in McRoberts, Kentucky being 74 years 6 months and 4 days of age at the time of his passing.
Jim was a member of the Whitesburg Rotary Club and member of K.R.A.D.D board, Chairperson of KRCC. He was a professor at the Southeast Community & Technical College in Whitesburg, Kentucky for the past 26 years. He was the founding President of Owensboro Community & Technical College and former Neighborhood Housing Board Chair. He enjoyed teaching, wood working, tinkering around the house and loved to whistle.
He is survived by two loving daughters; LeAnn (Ray) Hodges of Rockville, Maryland and Sherri (David) Cook of Owensboro, Kentucky. Two sons, James Dean "J.D." McDannel of Whitesburg, Kentucky and Wryley Egan Smith of McRoberts, Kentucky. One brother, William "Bud" McDannel of Vienna, Illinois.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Alex, Aaron, Isaac, Emily, Benjamen, JoAnna and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Howard McDannel.
