Obituary for Darrell Bell
Darrell Bell, the son of the late Fanillen and Velda Upchurch Bell, completed his earthly journey on April 10, 2022 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital, being 80 years and 8 days of age at the time of his passing. He has been married to Linda Biggerstaff Bell for almost 45 years.
Darrell graduated from Cumberland College, where he played basketball. He was inducted in to the Wayne County Basketball Hall Of Fame. He was a former teacher, coach, Mine Safety Instructor, and Mine Foreman. He loved all kinds of sports, especially anything involving the Kentucky Wildcats. However, his favorite baseball team was the New York Yankees. Darrell loved helping people, especially kids. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Wayne County.
He is survived by his sons; David and his wife Rhonda of Monticello, Kentucky and Trinity Bell of Whitesburg, and a daughter, Lenell Jackson and her husband Tim of Corbin, Kentucky. He has two sisters, Patricia Norrick and her husband Jim of Monticello, Kentucky and Rita Green of Lexington, Kentucky. He had seven grandchildren: Noah, Isaac, Shelby and his wife Rebekah, Whitney and her husband Osbaldo, Drew and his wife Mary, Cameron and his wife Taylor, and Michaela. He also had four great grandchildren: Keldon, Lylia, Elynore, and Lochlyn.
Darrell was preceded in death by his sister Carol Morris and her husband Lloyd.
