Obituary for Claude Joe Short
Claude Joe Short, son of the late Conley Short and Louisa Bryant Short was born in Wise, Virginia March 9, 1946. He entered eternal life Thursday, November 13, 2015 at his residence in Mayking, Kentucky being 69 years, 8 months and 4 days of age at the time of his passing. Claude was married to Alice Sturgill Short for 48 years. He enjoyed snake hunting and spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a great friend to all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Alice Short of Mayking, Kentucky. Five sons, James Duane Sturgill of Mayking, Kentucky, Claude Dean Short of Hemphill, Kentucky, Verlin Ray Short , Conley Short and Scottie Joe Short all of Mayking, Kentucky. Two daughters, Corinna Lou Brashears of Ulva, Kentucky and Christy Lynn Sexton of Mayking, Kentucky. One brother, Denver Short of Chatsworth, Georgia. Four half brothers, Charles Large of Wise, Virginia, Larry (Debbie) Large of Pound, Virginia, CE Large of Coeburn, Virginia and David Large of Wise, Virginia. Four half sisters, Annis Large of Pound, Virginia, Betty Sue Large of Coeburn, Virginia, Patty Large of Florida and Judy Large of Wise, Virginia. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to morn his passing.
