Obituary for Charles Joseph Day
Charles Joseph Day, son of the late Elbert Worley and Laura Leona Wampler Day was born at Cowan, Kentucky, July 31, 1939. He entered eternal life Thursday, February 22, 2024 at his residence at Whitco, Kentucky being 84 years, 6 months and 21 days of age at the time of his passing.
Charles married Shirley Standifer Day April 19, 1957. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all that knew him. Charles had served as Letcher County Coroner for over 25 years and enjoyed fishing and reading his bible. He was a mentor to many men that he worked with.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley A. Day of Whitco, Kentucky; two daughters; Alicia Gail Day (Wendell) Cook of Colson, Kentucky and Laura Anne Whitaker of Jenkins, Kentucky, a son, Charles Elbert Day of Whitco, Kentucky; a brother, Floyd Ralph Day of Charlestown, Indiana.
Also surviving are six grandchildren; Brian Cook, Amy Cook, Deanna Whitaker, Savanna Whitaker, Joseph Day and Adam Day, thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Charles was preceded in death by five sisters; Mildred Jane Ogg, Pearl Lee Day, Emily Rachel Pack, Peggie Gertrude Hampton and Virginia Jean Sizemore and five brothers; James Worley Day, Paul Franklin Day, Curtis Elmo Day, Carl Millard Day and Ronald Henry Day.
