Obituary for Betty Jo Johnson
Betty Jo Johnson, daughter of the late Ira Lee and Polly Ann Hall Varner was born January 14, 1939 in Hemphill, Kentucky. He entered eternal life Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Healthcare Hospital being 81 years, 1 month and 26 days of age at the time of her passing.
Betty was married to Avery Johnson. He passed away December 19, 2007. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and volunteering for East Kentucky Ministries. She was a member of the Neon Church Of God in Neon, Kentucky.
She was survived by two loving daughters; Kathy (Ernie) Sexton of Millstone, Kentucky and Phyllis (Bill) Looney of Mayking, Kentucky. One son, Bobby Joe (Jill) Johnson of Pottersfork, Kentucky. Four grandchildren; Kenny Potter, Andrea Yonts, Mistie Johnson and Kraig Potter. Six great - grandchildren; Kyra Johnson, Joby Johnson, Dalton Potter, Isaiah Potter, Aubrey Potter and Allie Rae Potter.
Also surviving are several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by three sisters; Georgia Collins, Maggie Duty and Billie Tolson. Three brothers; Robert Varner, James Varner and Calvin Varner.
