Bertus Tyree, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2021 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Region Hospital in Whitesburg, Kentucky.
Bertus was born in Crown, Kentucky on August 18, 1941 to Willis and Edith Cornett Tyree. He married Betty Howard Tyree on December 9, 1961.
He was a veteranof the Vietnam War and proudly served in the US Army. He worked as a coal miner and later owned and operated a heating and cooling business.
He enjoyed country music, playing his guitar, and riding his golf cart around Whitco. He was most fond of spending time with his family and friends and being surrounded by his grandchildren.
Bertus is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Tyree of Whitesburg, Kentucky; his son Randy "Melissa" Tyree, and daughter, Robin Tyree; four grandchildren, Cindy "Larry Wayne" Mayse, Katie "Josh Honeycutt" Tyree, Miranda "Lonnie" Thomas, Chris "Julie" Tyree; eight great-grandchildren, Grayson Honeycutt, Madeline Honeycutt, River Mayse, Harrison Tyree, Harlan Honeycutt, Cain Mayse, Odessa Thomas, and Parker Tyree; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
