Obituary for Altia Thomas
Altia Thomas gained her much deserved angel wings on June 2, 2017 at her home in Craft Branch, Kentucky.
Altia was born on February 13, 1942 to Ruth Craft Taylor (deceased), step-father, Eugene “Doc” Taylor (deceased), and Dewey Thomas (deceased).
She was a member of Millstone Missionary Baptist Church for 10 years, where she was saved and baptized by her Uncle Bill, whom she loved dearly.
Altia spent her life caring for those she loved. She was at her happiest cooking and sharing meals with her family. Her stove top and table were always filled with everyone’s favorite food and Altia made sure no one left her house hungry. The birth of each niece, nephew, and cousin brought her joy as she cared for them as her own. Altia’s gentle words and servant’s heart meant that others always came first. She was the salt of the earth. Her quiet strength, listening ear and humble nature will be missed by all.
In addition to her parents, Altia was proceed in death by her infant son: James Kenneth and her three brothers: Carl Junior Polly. Jimmy Taylor, and Donnie Taylor. She was also proceeded in death by brother-in-law, Jay Vanover and her precious nephew, “Little Jay” Vanover.
Altia is survived by a special nephew who she raised as a son, Daniel Bentley, and his wife, Caitlyn. Also surviving are her sisters, who were her best friends: Alpha (Alvin) Miller, Peggy Vanover, Connie (Bill) Adams, Susie (Jeff) Hart, Loretta Taylor and Kathy (Danny) Bentley and three sisters-in-law who she cherished: Rosetta Polly, Judy Taylor and Sheila Taylor. Altia leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that she considered her children and grandchildren.
