Obituary for Millard Bates
Millard Bates, Jr, son of the late Millard and Corsie Sexton Bates was born at Jackhorn, Kentucky, July 11, 1944. He entered eternal life Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky being 72 years, 11 months and 11 days of age the time of his passing.
Millard was married to the late Virginia Bates. She passed away November 22, 1980. He later married Becky Eastridge on March 13, 1982. Millard was a pastor at the Hemphill Freewill Baptist Church for over 20 years and presently assistant Pastor of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky. He was a loving husband, father,grand-father,brother, Pastor and a great friend to all that knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife , Becky Bates of Lexington, Kentucky. One son, Millard Matthew Bates of Georgetown, Kentucky. Three daughters, Jenny Gibson of Duffield, Virginia, Angela Caudill of Thornton, Kentucky and Ashley Steagall of Georgetown, Kentucky. Three adopted daughters, Wilma Taylor of Whitesburg, Kentucky, Judy Fields of Cowan, Kentucky and Patricia Bates of Jenkins, Kentucky. Five brothers, Bob Bates of Lexington, Kentucky, Hillard Bates of Amherst, Ohio, R.B. Combs of Norwalk, Ohio, Morgan Bates of Jenkins, Kentucky and Worley Bates of Deane, Kentucky. One sister, Emma Farthing of Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Anka.
Millard was preceded in death by a grandson, Phillip Stambaugh. Granddaughter, Jessica Stambaugh. Mother-in-law, Ann Collier. Brothe-in-law, James "Curly" Eastridge. Brother, Alex Combs. Sister, Millie Hunsucker.
