Jerry Wayne Coots, son of the late Joseph Lawrence and Ida Halcomb Coots was born July 10, 1944 in Lynch, Kentucky. He entered eternal life Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky being 72 years, 3 months and 21 days of age at the time of his passing.
Jerry was married to Sweila Raleigh Coots, September 19, 1964. He was a graduate of Whitesburg High School in 1963, where he starred in basketball and football. He attended L.M.U. College, he then came back and taught school for 4 years at Whitesburg High School. He then finished his working career as Conservation Officer for over 20 years. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Sweila Coots of Kingscreek, Kentucky. One son, Gregory Wayne (Maxie) Coots of Kingscreek, Kentucky. One daughter, Scarlett (Ralph Jr.) Hall of Kingscreek, Kentucky. Three sisters; Mary Bennett of Linefork, Kentucky, Delois Middlebrooks of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Mabelene Sizemore of New Tazewell, Tennessee. Four grandchildren; Jack Wesley, Nicholas Ford, Sara Kaye and Sydney Jane.
Also surviving are a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Samantha Coots. Six brothers and six sisters.
