Obituary for Ida Lee Hansel
Ida Lee Hansel, daughter of the late Howard and Ruby Walker Stacy was born December 28, 1933 in Hazard, Kentucky. She entered eternal life Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky being 84 years, 7 months and 10 days of age at the time of her passing.

Ida married John Thomas Hansel Jr. July 5, 1952 in Hazard, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2015. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She began working in law as a secretary when she was a sophomore in high school and continued as a paralegal in law until she was 76 years of age. Ida had a lifelong passion for poetry, having been a national and international published poet. She enjoyed reading, researching ancestry and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by one son, Mike (Abby) Hansel of Prestonsburg, Kentucky. One daughter, Debbie (James) Pennington of Whitesburg, Kentucky. Four grandchildren; Brandon, Canaan, Kelli, and Leah.

Also surviving are eleven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Sexton on August 22, 2016, a son, Jonathan Hansel on June 25, 2012, a brother, Lawrence Stacy and one sister, Thelma Joseph.
