Obituary for Chester Lee Hatton
Reverend Chester Lee Hatton of Russell Springs, Ky passed away Sunday, May 14 after a long battle with illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry “Johnie” Hatton of Jackson, Ky and Mattie Mae (Mullins) Hatton of Whitco, Ky, as well as six brothers, William Junior Hatton, David Senior Hatton, James G “Nig” Hatton, Roy Edward Hatton, Clayton Herbert “Claty” Hatton, Virgil Hubert Hatton, one sister, Flossie Ruth Hatton and one brother-in-law, Chester (Fleta) Brown. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Jones) Hatton of Russell Springs, three daughters, Nora Ruth Hatton of Pittsburg, Kansas, Hester Maria (Rick) Owens of Hebron, Ky, and Laura Lee “Motsy” Hatton of Bowling Green, Ky, two sisters, Fleta Mae Brown and Alberta (Jerry) Barker, both of Whitco, one sister-in-law, Ruth (Virgil) Hatton of Bishopville, SC, four grandchildren, Tanalisa Lauren Hatton (Will) Phillips, Travis Chet Owens, Jennarae Ruth Niece and Kevin James Owens, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chester was born September 24, 1938 in Whitco. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1977 as an E7 Senior Master Sergeant and served as an ordained bishop for the Church of God from 1977 until his retirement in 2007, pastoring several churches in the state of Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 17 at 1 pm at Everidge Funeral Home in Whitesburg, Ky. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 16 from 6-9 pm. Chester will be interred at R.B. Caudill Cemetery in Whitco.
