Obituary for Brenda Sue Boggs
Brenda Sue Boggs of Whitesburg, Kentucky passed from this life on Friday evening January 6, 2017 following a long illness. She was born on July 21, 1949 in the beautiful mountains of eastern, Kentucky at Mount Mary Hospital in Hazard, Kentucky. She was the first born to the late Johnnie Raichel and Henriertta Ritchie Raichel. A brother, Gary passed from this life in 1992. Brenda married Ronnie Davidson of Vicco, Kentucky in 1966. God blessed them with two wonderful children, Veronica and Johnnie, prior to Ronnie's passing in 1975.
Brenda graduated from Carr Creek High School in 1967 and Immediately began work at Martins Department Store, where she worked until 1977. She then became employed at Perry County Board of Education as Treasure for for the title I Program. It was here she met, unbeknownst to her, at this time, her future husband, Daryl Boggs. They were married on October 27, 1978 at the Whitesburg First Baptist Church, Daryl had two children by a previous marriage, Julie and Kevin, who came to love Brenda as a mother, while Veronica and Johnnie came to love Daryl as a father. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Joel in October 1980, making them a true family who loved one another completely.
Brenda began working at the Letcher County Board of Education as a Title I Treasure until her retirement in April of 2016.
Brenda was baptized on Christmas Eve in 1978. She loved the Lord and taught children's Sunday School with Daryl for 36 years. During the last couple of months of her life, she still attended and taught Sunday School. Although she was unable to go to the sanctuary, she would still listen to the service in the parking lot while sitting in the car.
She is survived by her loving husband, Daryl, and their five children: Julie (Randel) Holbrook, Kevin Boggs, Veronica (Shaun) Mynster, Johnnie H. (Amy) Davidson and Joel (Tara) Boggs. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Nicci (Kyle), Ashley (Daniel), Katey (Jordan), Jarad, Tyler, Emma, Charlie, and Parker, and one great-grandchild, Aubri. She is also survived by two sisters, Rita and Teresa, along with multitude of family and friends to mourn her passing.
